Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

Unemployment Determination

I live in the state of Michigan, received unemployment benefits from 12/06 - 2/07 and not until 4/07 did I receive a determination stating I was not eligible to receive benefits and that I must repay the total I collected for almost 3 mos. I feel it's because the employer didn't fill-out their paperwork for 5 months, that now I'm being punished for this. Is this seriously ok for them to do?

Re: Unemployment Determination

If you weren't eligible, you weren't eligible. You might have some recourse, such as in having to pay it back, but you can also appeal a payback decision. Contact local counsel.
