Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan

I have been living with my fiance for over a year and paying half the mortgage payment, with no receipt. My 17 and 19 year old sons live with us as well.

I have broken off the engagement and found another home, but can't move in for perhaps up to three weeks.

What is the time frame in which he can legally evict me, and can he refuse to allow my sons to stay in the house if I am away for one night?

All three of you sound like tenants, if you get mail there, have that address on your ID's, etc. He would need to give you 7 days notice for failing to pay rent, or 30 days notice to end your tenancy. Then he would file eviction complaint and get quick Court date. You should be fine. He CANNOT self help evict you or you have a claim against him for double damages. kliszlaw.com Tim Klisz
