Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Michigan

New Empoyment

Can a company neglect to tell you they are closing during the interview process? I took this job 3 weeks ago, gave my previous employer 2 weeks notice, have been with this new company for just one week. I found out they were closing on my first conference call five days into employment. I asked several times during the interview process about the stability of the business and was told they had closed stores to make the remaining stores healthy. This is a large corporation with stores in Canada and the U.S.

Re: New Empoyment

If you relied upon their assertions and left another good job for this new employment, I think you may have something. If you were already unemployed, you will have no damages and therefore, no case. William S. Stern
