Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Michigan

I requested, completed, and faxed a release form to have my physician tfax pertinent information to another physician. Seventeen pages of my medical history was faxed to my place of employment instead of the requesting physician's office. It appears the information sat on the fax machine overnight. When I arrived to work the following morning a co-worker informed me she found the documents at the fax machine and placed them on my desk. What legal action can I take for violating my privacy (Hippa laws/Privacy Act).

A lot depends on the form of your request. You apparently used the fax machine at your place of employment to send the fax to your doctor's office. Otherwise, your doctor's office would not have had the fax number at your place of employment.

It's possible that the doctor's office was negligent. This is not a legal ethics question (meaning it pertains to lawyers), it is a medical malpractice question (meaning it pertains to doctors). You need to repost this under medical malpractice.
