malpractice case, or to run a search to

see if a particular physician has been

sued for malpractice?

Yes. You can check with the clerk of any circuit court to determine whether any lawsuits have been filed in their county against a physician. Also the State of Michigan has an online listing of disciplinary actions against physicians.
