Legal Question in Personal Injury in Michigan

I tried to help a friend by putting a car in my name and he then was involved in an accident and I am being sued. I filed for bankruptcy and and just recieved a letter to be at a settlement date. Do I have to attend this proceedings if I have no income and I filed bankruptcy?

Talk to your lawyer, but if the accident occurred prior to the bankruptcy, the answer is no. Make sure you have properly notified the court and attorneys handling the personal injury case that you filed.
