Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

Adverse possesion rules

For the past 25 + years, we have been using an area in our backyard as ours. Our neighbors now say they own it and knew fully well that we considered this our yard. Now, after all these years, they are trying to take it back. We are considering filing an adverse possession claim. Can they legally have us removed from the property before we have had enough time to make our claim?

No. If necessary, you must get into court for a temporary restraining order and follow-up with a lawsuit to quiet title to the property.

If you would like my assistance in doing so, please contact me directly at my email address below. If you would like to know more about me, please visit www.lawrefs.com. I have an article on adverse possession on the website.
