Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Michigan

I am a property owner and hired a property manager. Property manager is paid a monthly fee by me that covers his responsibilities of contract. Many months, at one point 11 consecutive months, he had little to no issues to deal with. Recently, there was a problem that required more of his time than in the past. He tried to charge me additional, even thought his contract (drawn up by him) has no provision to do this. He basically said to pay him or he will resign within 30 days. What is my recourse?

Let him resign and find a new one. I wouldn't be bullied by him into paying outside of the contract.
