Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan

I was getting in my car ready to drive off. I park in the road in front of my house. As i was about to drive forward from in front of my house, i see a school bus coming in the same direction. I wait and let it go by and then start moving behind it as soon as it passed. Im still behind it a little ways down the street and it begins to slow down, with no lights yet. It moves a little more to the right and i begin to go around it. As i do the yellow lights come on and as im side by side with it the stop sign begins to spring out. The driver had gotten my drivers license number and contacted the authorities. Then they issued me a ticket. The cop said I should fight it and I had a chance of winning. Apparently the bus driver had told the police that the red lights were flashing, the stop sign was extended, and three kids had gotten off the bus. There is no way that is true though. I was directly behind the bus. There is no way it could have stopped and let three kids out when i was so close behind it. Can I fight this and potentially win?
