Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan

Driving on suspended license

I was in a 4 car accident where a driver hit my car, which caused me to hit the car in front of me, and that car to hit the car in front of it. Even though the car that hit me fled the scene, I was arrested for driving with suspended license. What is the possibility of me going to jail for a first offense. License has been suspended for almost 2 years due to me not being able to pay the driver responsibilty fees.

Re: Driving on suspended license

Actually you shouldn't be facing jail time if this is truly your first DWLS and you have an otherwise clean record. You should retain a lawyer to assist you with this charge, as it is a misdemeanor, but you can negotiate it to a lesser charge, in the event you get another DWLS, so you do not end up facing jail time, or additional suspensions, etc.
