Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

cemetary plot

My father purchased 6 plots in 1971. It was written in his names and then left to his heirs. Mom passed, Dad remarried Dad passed in 1984. The new wife thinks she owns those plots and can do what she want with them. Does she, these plots were not mentioned in my dads will?

Re: cemetary plot

Actually, you need to look at the cemetary papers. If your Dad passed the remaining plots onto his second wife, the papers will show what plots were passed on to her. The cemetary has "forms" that they use to pass plots on or the rights to plots. But, be careful. Many of those forms talk about the head stone not the plot.

This is not as easy as one thinks. It's almost like passing a deed to land.
