Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

Condo monthly & yearly expenses

My father passed away and he

left his condo to his wife which is our step mom the right to live there as long as she wants but if she sells or dies then it would be split between the 3 kids and herself.

Question I have is she wants us to sign off on it or for us to pay the yearly taxes on it and the monthly condo association fees..like maint. and ground keeps, and monthly insurance, does she have the right to ask for this money while she is living in the condo with full rights to the condo?

Re: Condo monthly & yearly expenses

Your question raises addtional questions to help arrive at an answer. Who is the owner of the condo? How was it left to you, your siblings and your step-mother with her retaining a modified life-estate? Hopefully, the answer to your question can be found in the legal document(s)that granted your step-mother the right to live in the condo. Typically, the terms for such an arrangement will be spelled out in a will, trust, tenancy agreement or some other such document.
