Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

Can an interested attorney be a witness to a will made by the same attorney?

I received a copy of a will from an attorney hired by my mother to perform the drafting of the will for her. It is my understanding that two people must witness and sign the will. In this case the attorney also signed as one of the witnesses and he also signed as the notary public.

Is this a proper and lawful action that will withstand a will contest in court?
