Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

my living parents drew up a will together, 3 years after my father died my brother convinced my mother to alter that will. Now my mother has died and I want to know if there would be a recorded copy of the first will?

There is no requirement to file a will. Probably, most wills are not filed. You can check with the probate court in the county where your mother lived to see if a will was filed. Sometimes, people have trusts and there is no provision anywhere to file a trust, unless it is with some financial institution that may require it.

You should contact the Probate Court in the county where your mother and father lived at the time they drafted thier wills. Under certain circumstances, you may contest the will that your mother had done after your father died. Please contact me to discuss these issues at 888-988-5297(LAWS) or [email protected]
