Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

Wills and 2nd Marriage

Remarried, 2 children from previous marriage, both will be over 18 this year. In a will, can I split everything 50% wife, 50% children? What is standard or reasonable for a second marriage? I have concerns about my children being cared for if I die.

Re: Wills and 2nd Marriage

Any will that you create is strictly your own. There is not a standard way to do anything with a second marriage. Simply put, you can have an attorney draft a will any way you would like it to read to carry out your wishes at death. However, there are things you should know about a wife's right to elect against the will. Again, talking to an experienced attorney will get you to the results you desire.
