Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Minnesota

Loss of personal possessions

My lease expired while I was incarcerated and my attorney spoke with my landlord about my personal items and was told that he would store the items in the garage for the next month. The locks on the house were changed before my lease expired and my items (including my car) were taken from the storage before the end of the next month. Can I file a civil suit for these items?

Re: Loss of personal possessions

Yes. If there was a promise to safeguard your items and that promise was broken, you can ask for compensation. Consult your attorney who made the deal,--you may need another attorney to represent you.
