Legal Question in Technology Law in Minnesota

spam and virus

for almost 2 months now I have been getting spam containing viruses (1 a day) from one person. That person and their hosts have been sent many notices of abuse and requests to stop, yet the infected and unsolicited emails keep coming regularly. I know they are originating in Nebraska and being routed through server in Kansas. What are the laws on spam and virus containing emails in Minnesota, Kansas, and Nebraska. Also where can I find a lawyer in my Central Minnesota area to represent me as I plan to press charges against the sender?

Re: spam and virus

Sorry to hear about your problem. I don't know whether the states you mention have specific laws on spamming. Several states do, however, based on a trespass theory. There may be some help under federal law. While I am not licensed in Minnesota, I have a colleague who is and is knowledgeable about computer and data law. If you are interested, I'd be happy to send you her contact information. Best regards,

Todd D. Epp, Esq.
