Community service = Servitude

Is it leagal for a high school to require a student to perform community service in order to graduate as part of a senior project? The 13 amendment says servitude will only be a punishment when convicted of a crime.

The Thirteenth Amendment outlawed slavery, not schoolwork. The fact that some of your required schoolwork helps other people does not make it equivalent to slavery.
