Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

Confused Mom

16 yr old child goes to court in Mn while visiting Dad for shoplifting and is fined monies and to take a class, which can be done in Wisconsin which lives with her mom. Child is habitual runaway and uncontrollable and has not paid fine or class. What can parent do? No letter from court yet had till Dec 9th to pay it. Can she be arrested? At this point it would be a good thing for her as the courts will not do anything cept bring her home when she runs.

Re: Confused Mom

they may arrest her, but I think that as a practical matter not much will come of it. They probably won't "ship" her to boot camp or a facility for that offense. As far as what you can do, my advice is probably the same as you've received already, talk to her school counsler, maybe alternative school, and get her in counseling with a child psychlogist. Good luck.
