Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

Minor Consumption

I was with some friends out on the town and my friend handed me his alcohol and not two seconds later I was jumped by two police on bikes. I was told to stop and I had put the alcohol in my pocket before they stopped me, but they issued me a MIP right away and made me blow. This is my second offense of an MIP is there anything I can do to get rid of this, it should have been my friends' MIP and I just want to know if I can do anything to lessen the charges or what this 2nd MIP does to my record? is it there for the rest of my life?

If you have not pled guilty or had a trial yet, you can prevent a conviction by not pleading guilty and winning the trial. You may be able to get some or all evidence suppressed, if you can convince a judge it was obtained illegally by police. If you don't plead guilty, and the charge is dismissed, or results in an acquittal verdict, you can then petition the court to expunge your public record of it. Perhaps it is obvious, but it would be best to have a good criminal defense lawyer help you with all of this.
