Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

Pipe and small marijuana tickets

I got caught with a pipe with marijuana in it. I am 19. I was given a ticket for possession of a small amount, and a paraphernalia ticket. I live in Minnesota, both are considered petty misdemeanors, and are non criminal. I want to know what I should do. It was the first time I have ever done anything illegal, so I don't know if that changes things. I am a college student with good grades and aspirations. Will this hurt me in the future.

It very well might. You need to find a criminal defense attorney that you can sit down with and discuss these charges and what can be done about them.

Yes, it will. I would suggest a goal of trying to avoid a conviction and avoid a guilty plea - both. A good defense lawyer would be helpful in acheiving that goal. I defend many marijuana cases.
