Legal Question in Criminal Law in Minnesota

Public Defender communication

The PD has permission to speak to me and we have spoke briefly but he has also tried to get in touch with her via phone and snail mail. My involvement is also making those calls and leaving pleasant messages to contact my son. I guess we(he) is wanting to hear about what she has been working on regarding his case. From other posts I understand the PD is very busy but I guess just needing a little reassurance?

Also, trying to learn as much as possible when in the FPC.

The Question: How much communication between client and PD is expected?

Thanks.

Re: Public Defender communication

Unfortunately, with budget cuts, the public defenders office is overloaded with cases. In genral you can expect little contact or communication. That is just a matter of practicality if youuse a public defender. Often they have over 120 cases at a time.
