Legal Question in DUI Law in Minnesota

My daughter is a college student and unfortunatley made a horrible decision and drank. She was issed a minor consumption ticket and has a court hearing. What will her consequences likely be. This is her first offense of any nature. No driving was involved.

As you are probably aware, your daughter has been charged with a misdemeanor which carries a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. This is not going to happen. Most likely she will receive a fine and a suspended sentence for a year. An attorney will ensure that she gets the best possible outcome. This may even include the eventual dismissal of the charges. Although hiring an attorney would be more expensive than just going to court and pleading guilty, it may be worth it in the long run in keeping her record clean.
