Legal Question in DUI Law in Minnesota

DUI License Plates

This is probably going to get a ''no'', considering how tough Minnesota DWI laws are, but I figured it was worth asking. My grandfather got a DWI a few months ago; it was his first offense, and his license has been suspended. He also owns the car that I drive, which now has to have DWI license plates until September 2008. I'm still in high school; how does that look? Is there any legal way to be able to remove them?

Re: DUI License Plates

If you are 18 you could transfer the title of the vehicle to your name - and then get new plates.

Seems to me that would work. It would cost a few dollars, however, and would probably not be worth it.

Re: DUI License Plates

If you were unaware that the person driving your vehielc would use it in violation of the law, you may file a Peitiotn to rescind the plate impooundment. That would require also that the person driving had a valid license.
