Legal Question in Education Law in Minnesota

Terminated from cosmetology school

My daughter was terminated from cosmetology school due to her attendance. The school has changed rules and has discouraged her. They still get all the course money and even if she appeals and is accepted back we have to pay above and beyond the 15,000 that the course costs due to days missed...even though she was not there. Can they do this even though the money is federal grant money and student loans?

Re: Terminated from cosmetology school

Do you have a written contract with this school? If you agreed to these conditions (even though they sound unfair), you may be stuck. The source of the money--grants or loans--is likely irrelevant unless the grantor has conditions attached to the money which preclude a receiving institution from being paid when enrollment has been terminated.
