Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

Child Support Increase

I have been getting paid child support for the past 3 years for my 6 year old son. I have never had it increased in fear of retalliation, and a re-opening of our child custody case (i have sole physical & legal custody). Can this happen? He has not paid a dime towards medical/dental bills, and it's getting more expensive provide my son with the things he needs. Am I at risk for having the custody case reopened if I attempt to have child support raised??

Re: Child Support Increase

It is very difficult to modifiy custody under Minmnesota law and, generally, requires some showing of endangerment. Although it is always possible that the other parent may seek custody, a change in custody is usually difficult to accomplish without some compelling facts demonstrating that the child is endangered.
