Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

hi

im wondering because im 16 from minnesota and my boyfriend is 21 from wisconsin

if someone from wisconsin can report us and get him in trouble for dating me. and im saying just a random person on the street calling the police saying they heard that my boyfriend was dating a minor. because we are having that problem and wondering if he would be arrested for it.

i know i have heard that when you are 16 you have concent in minnesota but if i were to go over state line to visit him could they bust him, because i would have to follow state laws there and there law i would have to be 18.

we need to know asap. because then we can plan what we would have to do next.

thanks

Dating is never a crime. Sexual contact occurring in Wisconsin would be a criminal offense.

Certainly, any person may report if and when a criminal offense occurs. That includes a random person making a call. If the person is crdible, law enforcement may investigate and, depending on the result of that investigation, may seek criminal charges.

The charges would be very serious. You would be wise to refrain from sexual contact. until it is legal.
