Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

names are changed but not adopted

My ex-wife had my children's last names legally changed to there stepfathers last name.Am I still legally responsible for child support? I have not seen my children in 3 1/2 years.I also want to know if I have to keep paying for daycare when they are no longer attending any child care facility?

thankyou

Re: names are changed but not adopted

The child support obligation continues even though the children's names are changed. You shouldn't have to keep paying day-care expenses if there are none, but you'll need to ask the court to modify the order to reflect that there are no longer day-care expenses. Court offices have the forms you would need to request a modification.
