Legal Question in Family Law in Minnesota

suppport modification

I've been divorced for 5 years and was court ordered to pay support to my xwife. I do not miss payments. My situation has since changed in the job market and my income has gone down substantially thru no fault of my own. I pay support and her house payment and we are trying to sell our co-owned house, but won't get what we need for it. She is currently in treatment for 12th time and does nothing to support herself. No minor children still at home. I'm getting very close to bankruptcy and need to have my obligation reduced. What are the chances that a judge will look favorably on me and grant me lower spousal maintenance. I've been told not much of a chance. I feel I've done all I can to be fair and I see her doing nothing to help herself. I still have 6 years to pay. I've tried to find another job but my market of Direct Mail seems to be a dying field. What are my chances?

Re: suppport modification

So long as your spousal maintenance obligation was not made non-modifiable by a Waiver, generally called a KAron Waiver, you may seek to modify that maintenance whenever there has been a substantial change of financial circumstance.
