want to sue for my dog s handler. for improper care.

My dog was living with a dog handler for 9mos was not care for , her coat was destored had ear infections i payed them almost 3000 for this I would like to get my money back. She was to be an AKC champion but they destored her coat.I have pictures of her before and after I took A video of her at the airport the day she came home.

Unfortunately, under Florida Law your dog is only considered chattel, or personal property and therefore your amount of damages is greatly reduced. You are only entitled to receive the cost of your dog, not any non-economic losses such as the future earning potential of your dog.

If you are unsatisfied with the performance of the handler you can pursue a breach of contract suit against her. However, you will be once again limited in your recovery. I understand that your dog is important to you and you are upset, but I feel that the costs of hiring an attorney for such a suit would be greater than any benefit you could obtain.

Your best would be to talk with the handler about your dissatisfaction. If that is to no avail, than you could consider filing a small claims case by yourself.
