Legal Question in Insurance Law in Minnesota

Fire home Insurance

My policy in place stated $191,000 replacement for home and $143,000 for content loss. My home and contents were deemed total loss by fire, which cause undisputed was accidental. Am I entitled to the limits on policy for home and contents, or do I have to list my home contents?

Re: Fire home Insurance

You are entitled to the damages that you can prove. Let me give you an example: if I insure my house for $1 Million and have a fire and it is a total loss, but the value of my home and contents is $10.00, then I will receive my damages from the insurer, or $10.00.

In your case, you will receive the damages that you can prove, regardless of the policy limits. In most cases, you cannot recover more than the policy limit.

I really appreciate positive feedback.

Please be aware that my answer is not legal advice, it is merely information. You and I have not entered into an attorney/client relationship. The only way that I am legally responsible for your legal rights is if you have signed a written retainer agreement with my law firm.
