Legal Question in Personal Injury in Minnesota

About 5 years ago my mother was driving a car in my name and had gotten into an accident. I was not present at the scene, however, my mother didn't have a driver's license therefore I was sued. A judgement has since been placed on my name, not my mothers, in the amount of $8000+. I feel since I wasn't present at the accident i should not receive this judgement, that my mother should since she was the person driving the vehicle when the accident took place. I really need my driver's license and have been punished by this for way too long. Is there any way to lift the judgement off of my name, even if it means it goes onto my mothers name? My mother also feels the judgement should be on her as well since I was not present at the accident.

Unfortunately, it is probably to late. You should have addressed this when you were being sued. Is there a reason your insurance company did not assist you. If your mother feels the judgment should be in her name she should pay the $8,000 for you and it would be over. I am not sure why the judgment would keep you from obtaining your license.
