Am I responsibilty for another person's insurance rate increase?

I was driving my sisters car and was in an accident. Her insurance company agreed to cover the damages. Her boyfriend (owner of the insurace policy) said I need to pay out of pocket for the damages so that his insurace rate won't increase. Am I legally responsible to do this?
