Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Minnesota

Tree roots crossing property line

Our neighbor planted fast growing trees next to our wood privacy fence. They are now pushing back the edging and rock that we had placed on both sides of the fence. I do trim the branches that are coming into contact with the fence or cross the property line.

Can I pour poison into the rock, on our side of the property line, which would kill the roots growing under the fence? If so, would I be liable if the tree died?

You can be held liable for any act which causes damage on your neighbors property.
