Legal Question in Traffic Law in Minnesota

I was pulled over and had no proof of insurance on the car. When I asked my parents if they had a more recent card they said they did not renew the insurance. I live in Minnesota and was wondering, because this was my first encounter with the police, could the ticket be dropped if I can show that I have insurance now?

It is unlikely the State would agree to just drop the charge, however there are some ways to handle the case which could keep this ticket off your record. The best choice would be to plead not guilty at the court date and get a lawyer to negotiate the case with the prosecutor.
