Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Minnesota

My husband's dad passed away. He was married, but lived with his mother for the last 6 years. The wife is on government dissability and told them that she wasn't married. Not sure if they were legally separated. The grandmother wants to know if she is entitled to his bank account since he has lived with her and shared rent and utilities. He made my husband his beneficiary on the policy we buried him with the grandmother picked up what wasn't covered in costs. The wife made it clear she wanted no part of planning his funeral. Now she has an attorney. No other names were on the bank account. Please help!

This is not a simple answer. You'll almost certainly need to retain an attorney.
