Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Mississippi

Credit Report, Report it Fairly

A Company has reported the same instance as two separate accounts and actions in my credit report. I have repeatedly tried to correct this matter. The company owns subsidiaries that show the same occurrence in two different ways. I co-signed a loan for my daughter on a car. She did not make the payments as agreed. I made an agreement to have the car repossessed with the lender. I agreed to pay any remainder and additional cost incurred after the car was sold at auction. We agreed to an amount and it is current. On my credit report they show it as two separate accounts, total amount being duplicated. It is deceptive in the way it is presented and I have tried to have this changed by the company. I also have documentation that the accounts are the same instance from the company. I have documentation that they would change the status of the reposition, the lender explained to me that voluntary would be more acceptable than an involuntary reposition before we the agreement was made. My question is, should the company be able to show it as a charge off on one account number and as a reposition under a separate company and account for that amount as well? What course of action do I have to repair the damage?

Thanks.

If you have already done that which Wendell suggested, then consult with a competent creditors' rights atty. to learn of your rights and options under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The Act does have provision for the prevailing party to recover atty fees.

Write the credit reporting agencies, sending them copies of your documentation.
