Legal Question in Criminal Law in Mississippi

Statue of limitations on Indictment

I was arrested in 2/03 for possesion of crystal. (2 baggies with residue) My atty said I was offered a deal, 4 pistols were taken. Let the guns go and they will drop charges. One gun belonged to my dad and is registered. The guns were ran in the paper to sale 3/04.

The warrant was based on a caller informing them I had a lab in my shed in the back yard. When MSBN came in it had to be obvious there was no lab. The only thing was 2 baggies with suspected residue, small sack of weed, assorted paraphanaila, 3 pistols, camcorder, monitor and camera. I'm a single mom of 2. My dad bought the monitor and camera for a view monitor with my son. After 2 months they gave me back my camera and camcorder.

Is all this legal? What should I do?

Re: Statue of limitations on Indictment

Did they drop everything? Where in MS are you? There is not necessarily a Statute of Limitations but there are speedy trial rights, although some say that there really is no such thing here in MS. Very hard to win a speedy trial issue. What court are you in?
