Legal Question in Family Law in Mississippi

Guardianship

In July 2006 my husband and I were appointed temporary guardians of my niece (then seven, now eight years old) because both (divorced) parents tested positive for drugs. We are not official Foster Parents, so do we have any rights or anyone to ask free legal questions? The court case has been put off now three different times. The child is not a problem. She just misses living with her mother and wants to see her father often. The parents ''hit and miss'' with child support to us. Also, our 15 grandchildren have rarely seen us during these past seven months. When we called the court to ask questions, they informed us that we were not to call them for anything. We cannot shell out money for an attorney when we are constantly spending money we don't have anyway. The ad litem attorney was appointed by the court, but the parents don't have the $1,000 to pay her to get started -- which will delay all of this again we fear. Is there any help we can get -- free?
