Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Mississippi

Can you prosecute someone for copyright infringement?

If they took your song and you can proove it can you prosicute them as a criminal matter instead of a civil matter?

I would like to know if this is possible and has it ever been done and what are the case laws for it if it has been done?

Thanks,

Paul Hill

As a Franchise Attorney I can tell you copyright infringement is a strictly civil matter, not criminal. If you are the owner of a valid copyright and can prove they infringed on it, then you can sue for copyright infringement. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
