I want to start a KC area business selling technology goods and services across multiple states. 1) what is the best way to locate a reputable attorney? 2)how much $ should I budget for?

Contact the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. You need to ask for lawyers who advise businesses on formation issues. Most firms have lawyers who can meet with you and advise you for something in the range of 100 - 300 per hour. I could not fathom a guess on how much work you'd need, or how much advice you'll require. I would certainly budget $1500 for formation (costs, etc.)
