Contracts prior to death

My husband was recently killed in an auto accident. Am I liable for contracts and/or loans my husband made (without my knowledge) prior to his death?

Re: Contracts prior to death

I am sorry to learn of your loss. Much depends on the nature of the contract. If they were made jointly, or if collateral was put up to secure the loans of which you have no ownership, that property may be at risk. I am uncertain what types of contracts you mean.

Please contact me, without cost or obligation, if you need more answers.

Re: Contracts prior to death

First of all, please accept my condolences for your tragic loss. I hope that your faith, your family and your friends are able to provide you with some measure of comfort and support. I would not risk offering an off hand response to your question about your potential liability for the debts of your husband, since there are not enough facts posted to form a proper response. I would suggest that you meet with an attorney who can go over these questions and also various other matters that you may need some advice about during this most difficult time. If you are in the greater St. Louis area, I would be happy to offer you a free consultation. You may call me at 314-727-2822 to talk or to make an appointment. My sympathy and best wishes go out to you.
