non compete in missouri

I signed a non compete almost 3 yrs ago, and was in the negotiationg of buying the business that currently employs me, after our first counter offer they were fine w/ the #'s but then made it to 3 counter offers then they back petalled out and now are asking way to much.

Will a non compete stand in missouri it is for 2years and 50miles and now that i can't buy this business i would like to start my own

In Missouri, a noncompete must be limited to what is needed to protect the interest of the employer. If the employer has not contacts within the 50 mile radius, it may be defective. Also, if you signed the noncompete as part of the negotiations, it may be defective. Contact me and I will review the noncompete at no charge.
