Legal Question in Business Law in Missouri

We have owned a construction business for 7 years it is a LLC however I am the only officer. Because of the tough economy and because of some people in the company that misused funds, we are experiencing very difficult finacial times. We have contracts with 12 people which we are not complete and the customer gave us half of the money. They range from 700 - 10000 dollars. These contracts are over a year old. Many other contracts have been completed in however these we are just not able to get these done because the jobs were sold short. Most of them have taken us to court for breach of contract and we agree we owe them the money we just don't the means. Now I was arrested for 7 counts of stealing. 7 of these customer got together to form a case. The only reason we have kept the business open for this past year is to try to take care of the customers we have a contract with. We felt that if we closed the business the customers would never get their money back. But business has continued to decline. If we close the business now will the prosecuter add more people to the case? What about the current customers we have, if we close we will not be able to fulfill those contracts? We have put our house up for sale which if we sell we will be able to take care of most of the customers. But we have no other assets personally or in the business. We can not afford an attorney and we are applying for a public defender. We claimed bancrupcy 7 years ago and have to wait til October 2013 to file. Please help with some advise.

Obviously, for you personally the criminal case is more posting pressing. If you did not profit from the misuse of the deposits, you may not be guilty of anything. If you did, you may need to plead guilty to a criminal offense, or sue those people you mentioned had taken money.

If you get a public defender, discuss these optims with them before deciding what to do.

If you don't get a public defender, hire an attorney. Too many people say they don't have money for an attorney, when they retain luxuries (like cell phones, cable TV, multiple vehicles) that are errorless to them in prison.

Good luck

Too many people say they don't have money for an attorney, when they retain luxuries (like cell phones, cable TV, multiple vehicles) that are worthless to them in prison. When your liberty is at stake, just about everything, except food, water and shelter become a luxury.
