Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Missouri

Final payment question.

my wife and i were recently married. We thought our entire wedding was paid for, but recieved a letter 2 weeks later that there was a error on their end, and that we owed $ 2085 for our wedding. On our final check that we sent we wrote Final Payment Paid in Full, and the check was cashed. I dont believe I owe them any money, but I cant prove that I made this payment. Am i obligated by law to pay this?

Re: Final payment question.

If you get the cancelled check that has the designation you claim, you may be able to avoid paying anything more for the wedding. If for some reason you cannot get the cencelled check and the creditor sues you, they will have to prove their claim. They may be able to do this. Therefore, it is important that you get the cancelled check.

Good Luck
