Legal Question in Criminal Law in Missouri

Concealed Weapon

Our son was arrested on a charge of having a concealed weapon in his glove compartment. The police say this is a felony. What are we looking at in Missouri as far as possible punishment?

Re: Concealed Weapon

If your son was charged with a felony then he needs to consult personally with a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. To respond generally to your question, there is a range of punishment which could involve imprisonment or the payment of fines or both. Depending upon circumstances there might be a defense to the crime charged. There is also the possibility that it would be in your son's best interest to negotiate a plea bargain, and if so, it is possible that he would be placed on probation. It is also possible in some cases to avoid a conviction on the defendant's record. It is not advisable to provide specific individual legal advice via the internet, and this response is not intended to provide legal advice. In order for me to provide competent legal advice, I would need to interview your son and review whatever legal documents he has concerning this charge. If you are in the Eastern half of the state, and if your son is not already represented, you or he may call me for a telephone consultation or an appointment at 314-727-2822. I would be happy to offer my services.
