Detective trying to build case against person wants to ask me questions

A detective would like to talk to me about someone who I honestly don't know anything to be able to assist. Do I have to talk to this detective? Already explained that I do not know anything and was advised not to talk to them and they want to know whom advised me. Do I nedd to retain a lawyer to tell them for their report or do I just leave it that I was advised not to talk to them and nothing else for now?

Whoever advised you not to make any statements to the detective gave you excellent advice! You should definitely follow it. You do not have to answer the detective's question as to who gave you that advice. You do not need to retain a lawyer just for this purpose, but if you are taken in for questioning you should insist upon contacting your attorney and you should be strong and stand upon your Constitutioanl right not to make any statements to the law enforcement authorities. You might want to have an attorney "on call" just in case you need one.
