If they do this, they may also file a Petition to terminate your parental rights. They would give you an opportuniy to keep your rights and regain custody of your child by following through with a step-by-step plan. Obviously, your continued use of drugs will result in the loss of your child permanently. The DFS is not the DEA. They are not in the business of setting up drug users or drug dealers. So, you may be dealing with other law enforcement authorities. You should consult with an attorney, and hire an attorney to help you before you do anything else. If you are going to be charged with a crime, it will be much better for you to have an attorney before you are charged and taken into custody. An attorney may be able to help set up a voluntary surrender which will minimize any time that you actually do have to be in custody. An attorney can also give you specific advice on how you should deal with ehe DFS. In the meantime, you would be a complete idiot to make any statements or answer any questions for anyone concerning this matter until you have received legal advice from your attorney. Your attorney will advise you not to make any statements or answer any questions, but instead stand upon your fifth amendment right not to incriminate yourself. Anything and everything you say to any law enforcement person can and will be used against you. There is absolutely nothing you can possibly say to help yourself in this situation.
