Legal Question in Elder Law in Missouri

Trust, Will, Long Term Health Care

My husband and I have just signed the above. His daughter is angry. He is going to visit him the last of this month and I fear that she will try to get him to change the above and give all my power as his wife, to herself. I feel that she will try to get him to just stay with her and not return home. We have been married for 31 years. How do I protect myself? What ''kind'' of an attorney should I go to?

Re: Trust, Will, Long Term Health Care

You need an attorney who does elder law and estate planning. The best attorney would be the one who drafted your estate plan.

If you or your husband are afraid of your daughter, there are legal mechanisms to prevent being intimidated. Consult the attorney who drafted your will. If he or she is unwilling or unable to help you, then the nearest big city is Springfield, and I'd recommend calling the Missouri Bar Lawyer Referral Service and asking for someone in your area who works with elder law issues.

Good luck.
