Do you have the forms for a minor's name change in Missouri?
Do they include the appointment of next friend docs?

If you are going to try to handle a name change for a minor on your own, you might want to check the law to see if you are able to do so without being an attorney. I know that you could represent yourself if you were trying to change your own name, but representing another person in court even if you are acting as "Next Friend" might be considered practicing law.
